Fisher house

House owner:  Klaus Fischer
Location:           Immenstadt, Allgäu
Project date:     2015
Building type:   Detached house

Fisher house has been constructed on the very south of Germany, at the Iller valley in Allgau Alps. The house was used from its north to west parts as 'house-barn-hayloft' for 150 years. The house part of the building has been newly designed and reconstructed according to the contemporary needs with energy efficiency focus. For this masonry house, 36,5 cm thick isolation bricks were used, its floor pavings and roof trusses were from wood. Because of the mountains, rising from its westside, the house gets too little evening sunlight in winter time, so in order to maximize the heat storage in winter the southeast façade of the house has been completely designed as a greenhouse.
